COVIDSafe Plan

The Knowing Project is working within state and national government guidelines and responding appropriately to the requirements that are outlined. Our team adheres to these guidelines and have been trained accordingly in our safety measures. Our policies will be regularly updated to reflect changes resulting from government announcements. Our COVIDsafe Plan includes adhering to the following COVIDsafe principles:

1.Ensure physical distancing:

  • Minimise the build-up of people waiting to enter and exit the venues or spaces.

  • Ensure participants are 1.5 meters distance from each other in venue or outdoors

  • Whilst the Australian government has deemed physical distancing between school students impracticable, our facilitators will ensure distancing when practical.

  • Rearrange areas to enable physical distancing between facilitators and participants

  • Reinforce messaging to facilitators that physical distancing needs to be maintained during work and during social interactions

  • Facilitators will avoid touching surfaces unless necessary.

2. Face covering where required:

  • Adequate face coverings and Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) are provided to facilitators.

  • Use of face coverings is monitored in all facilitators, unless a lawful exception applies

  • Facilitators are informed that cloth masks should be washed each day after use.

3. Good hygiene and cleaning of instruments and equipment:

  • All instruments are to be thoroughly cleaned with cloth and sanitizer or antibacterial wipe before and after use.

  • Cleaning regime must include use of a disinfectant with anti-viral properties that complies with the published requirements ofDHHS.

  • Each facilitator will have a box of antibacterial wipes and rubbish bin for disposal.

  • Sharing of instruments and other equipment is avoided by ensuring there are enough instruments for each participant to have their own.

  • Workshop facilitators to have their own instruments and equipment that is not shared.

  • Hand sanitiser is provided in vehicle and with equipment.

  • Facilitators will practise their own hygiene methods, sanitising their hands before entering the grounds and washing their hands frequently throughout the day.

4. Keeping records and acting quickly if facilitators become unwell:

  • Facilitators are not to attend work and isolate if they demonstrate any cold or flu like symptoms and not attend the workplace until they receive their negative test results.

  • Detailed and accurate records of all bookings and events attended by all facilitators will be maintained.

  • Facilitators will comply with temperature screenings.

  • Deep cleaning of equipment will be undertaken in the event of a positive case.

5. Avoiding interactions in enclosed spaces:

  • Maximise the use of outdoor spaces as per Government recommendations and encourage schools or centres to hold sessions outdoors when possible.

  • If outdoors is not possible, large, well ventilated spaces such as halls are encouraged. Making sure that windows and air conditioning are set for optimum air flow at indoor venues.

6. Creating workforce bubbles:

  • Facilitators do not work across multiple sites unless unavoidable.

  • Bookings and schedules will be adjusted to ensure facilitators do not work across multiple sites where avoidable.

  • Facilitators are encouraged to minimise time in shared facilities when taking breaks
